Buyer's Guide
4 Simple Steps to Choosing the Right Range Hood
STEP 1 : CHECK YOUR DUCTWORK
- Ducted Range Hoods vent cooking odors, smoke, grease, and steam out of your house.
- Ductless Range Hoods use charcoal filters to recirculate and filter the air back into your home.
- Convertible Range Hoods allow for either ducted or non-ducted ventilation systems.
Ducted kitchen hoods tend to be more efficient for getting rid of cooking odors, smoke, grease, and steam in the cooking area. They are not simply filtering and recirculating the air, but are instead venting it out of the kitchen altogether. That is why at Pacific Kitchen Life, all of our range hoods require ductwork.
The ideal duct size for our high-CFM hoods is 6” or larger. A smaller duct size may decrease your kitchen range hood’s efficiency by restricting the airflow as it travels through your ductwork. If you do not have existing ductwork in your kitchen, please contact customer service for guidance from our experts.
